Maha Kumbh 2025: Expected To Generate Business Worth Rs. 3 Lakh Crore

According to Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Secretary General and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal, the Mahakumbh festival in the holy city of Prayagraj is expected to generate business worth around Rs. 3 lakh crore through goods and services, making it one of the biggest economic events in India.

Khandelwal asserted that this colossal human congregation displays the interplay between faith and the economy.

Mahakumbh, which happens after 144 years, is being held in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26. This year, the festival is witnessing the arrival of millions of devotees from India and throughout the world to experience this once-in-a-lifetime chance.

The event has not only become a religious milestone, but it has also boosted the economy by encouraging local trade, particularly Mahakumbh-themed merchandise such as diaries, calendars, jute bags, and stationery. Sales have increased much more as a result of improved branding.

Khandelwal also mentioned that before the beginning of the festival, the initial estimate projected the arrival of 40 crore people and business traction worth Rs. 2 lakh crore. However, owing to the unprecedented enthusiasm across the country, it is now projected that nearly 60 crore people will participate in Mahakumbh, leading to a massive business turnover of Rs. 3 lakh crore. This, he said, has also provided a significant boost to the economy of Uttar Pradesh and created new business opportunities.
